50+ folk and self-taught artists

Finster Fest, the annual festival honoring the life and legacy of Summerville's famous folk artist, the Rev. Howard Finster, will take over Paradise Garden on the Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, May 26-27, 2018.

Once again, Finster Fest will be in Howard Finster's art environment, Paradise Garden. The celebration this year will center on the marketplace of more than 50 artists, a majority of them self-taught, and regional music talent. The southern food fare includes BBQ, homemade pimento cheese sandwiches, and sweets will be offered.

The fest, launched in 1991 to honor Howard Finster, presents guests an opportunity to explore and be inspired by Paradise Garden, the greatest creation of the late folk artist. Again this year, the $5 admission fee benefits the nonprofit Howard Finster Paradise Garden Foundation in its ongoing work to restore and operate the cultural attraction. Paradise Garden welcomes over 6,000 visitors a year bringing economic development through the arts to Summerville, Chattooga County, and the surrounding tri-state region (Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee).
