Legendary live music venue, the Masquerade, long a fixture on the Atlanta musical landscape and destination point on the national touring scene, marks its 25th Anniversary of presenting the finest in new, cutting edge live entertainment by debuting an annual weekend celebration of music we love by artists we admire.
For the inaugural 2015 installment of the Wrecking Ball, we give you 60 bands on 4 stages over a period of two days- August 8th and 9th. Heaven, Hell, Purgatory and the outdoor Masquerade Music Park will each host a full slate of artists both days.
Stylistically, Rock, Punk Rock, Hardcore, Post-Hardcore, Emo, and all of the flavors in between will be represented. From the soaring riffs of Prog/Post Hardcore heavyweights Coheed & Cambria to the in-your-face, tongue-in cheek stylings of one of the most significant Punk Rock bands of the 1980s, Descendents, and from a special reunion of Melodic Hardcore masters, Thrice to the howlingly beautiful American anthems of Conor Obersts Desaparecidos, festival attendees will be taken on a musical roller coaster ride spanning decades. And thats just the beginning a seemingly endless cavalcade of soul stirring artists such as Glassjaw, the Movielife, The Get Up Kids, American Nightmare, Basement, Braid, Yuck, Title Fight, Samiam and Knapsack will roll through over the weekend.
The festivities will kick off on Friday August 7 with a special Punk Rock Karaoke pre-party. An all-star lineup including Greg Hetson of Bad Religion, Derek OBrien of Social Distortion and The Adolescents, Eric Melvin of NOFX, and Stan Lee and Edward Tater of the Dickies provide the legit Punk Rock soundtrack for Friday night Pre-Party goers to perform their favorite Punk Rock anthems.
